How the board works

What to post, what gets taken down, and how to tell CovePet something is wrong with a request.

What the board is for

The feedback board is for asking CovePet to do something, and for adding your weight to what somebody else asked for. It is about CovePet and nothing else.

It is not a place for a question about your pet. CovePet cannot tell you what a symptom means. If something is wrong, call your vet, and if it is urgent, call an emergency service now.

One person reads everything first

Nothing appears on the board automatically. Every request is read by a person before it is published, and no decision on this board is made by software. That is why a request can take a day to appear, and why the board is quiet rather than full of spam.

A published request appears in your own words. CovePet may add a clearer title beside what you wrote and a note explaining where the idea stands, but it does not rewrite your words. Where a title has been changed, the board says what was submitted.

Do not post private things

The board is public and search engines can read it. Leave out anything private about you, another person, your pet, or your vet. That includes names, addresses, phone numbers, and anything from a medical record.

An email address is optional. It is never published on the board, and it is used once, to answer you.

What gets removed

A request is removed for one of these seven reasons:

  • Spam, or an advertisement for something else.
  • Off topic. The board is about CovePet.
  • Abusive towards a person.
  • Private information about somebody, including a vet.
  • Unlawful.
  • A duplicate of a request already on the board.
  • The person who wrote it asked for it to go.

If you left an email address, CovePet tells you what was decided, which of the seven reasons applied, and that a person and not software made the decision. You can reply to that email to contest it.

A duplicate is usually merged rather than removed, so the votes on it move to the request it repeats and nobody loses their vote.

About the vote counts

Votes are counted for each browser, not for each person. Clearing your cookies, opening a private window, or using another device each give another vote. The number is a signal about what people want, and it is not a headcount.

Report a request

Use this to tell CovePet a request breaks the rules above, or to ask for one you wrote to be taken down. The form lists what is on the board, so pick the request you are reporting. CovePet answers with what was decided and why.

Anything else

Write to hello@covepet.com. A person reads it. The terms cover posting to the board, and the privacy policy covers what is stored.
